A bunch of "unruly" schoolkids are chosen to fight each other in a 3 day, no-rules contest, the "Battle Royale." on an abandoned island off the coast of Japan. Their only chance of survival is through the death of all their classmates using items ranging from pot lids to high powered automatic weapons. The 40 strong class attempt many different ways to survive provoking consideration as to how people may react in this type of situation. Tarantino was clearly influenced by this film when directing Kill Bill.
